Everybody has one.  Probably more than one.

What am I great at?  What do I love doing?

When I’m at my best, what am I doing?…let that marinate….hear it out loud…

When I am at my best and when I’m doing that, I’m doing precisely what?

Some clients say ‘I’m at my best when I’m solving problems’..a riddle, a puzzle…we just kept picking it apart and kept asking the questions and one lady said ‘I do it everywhere in my life’ and I was like ‘Great!  How can you capitalize on that? How can you turn that into something that really helps you shine?’…how does that support you?  How does that support the people in your life?…How can you turn that into a marketable skill…

We still need to get curious and keep asking ourselves questions…

…What I’m great at is asking people what they really want, where they thrive.  What is it they love about what they do? What motivates them? Motivation is not an innate thing.  We have to manufacture it a lot of times….motivation often doesn’t even kick in until we’re about 5 minutes into something.

What is the thing that we could do with our eyes closed that lights us up?  And how do we apply that?

Focus in on what we would do if money were no object.

If we have a challenge…if I’m great at solving that, maybe I’m also great at solving that for other people.  So, how can I turn that into something?

I’m a huge fan of figuring out what drains your energy and outsourcing or bartering…

I think there’s a way to be more effective…by taking our strengths and applying them when it’s time to hustle.  And maybe during glide times…I despise admin.  It drains my energy.  But, if those things don’t get done, I don’t get paid.  So I block them as ‘I get to do this today so that…’  I block it during a time when I don’t have umpteen things going.

For me if it’s off the plate, it’s off my head.

Say you’re new…sometimes it’s important to really be in it.  There’s a taping point…when you’re waking up…at 3 o’clock in the morning and that’s on your mind…I think it’s amazing what a leap of faith can do.

I hired an assistant during the heat of the pandemic when my business was slow…and when we recover our time and energy, we are able to be in our superpower and our zone of genius, doing the thing that lights us up and most of the time in business is what monetizes.

Especially now…we’ve been thrust into a totally different way of doing every single thing…We don’t give ourselves credit for what we’ve managed to do…Acknowledging that we can have gratitude and a whole pile of garbage that feels heavy at the same time..is important.  And it helps take the heaviness off having to be a certain way…I think the personal devotement world has done a bit of a disservice with this toxic positivity.

We can simultaneously be ok and not ok.  That’s something that has shown up in our household…

It’s ok to say ‘I’m in it right now and I don’t like it.’  Sometimes just speaking that clears it out.  Or it opens the door for us to take a different path…

I’m a huge fan of journaling.  I feel like it’s a great way to brain dump….we just need to clear and let it all out….I had no idea how much negative junk I was holding onto in my head…

I cleared out all the negativity…all the stuff that was holding me back…then I started getting more creative…

Kind of clear the decks in some way…go for a walk, get outside,  get in nature…move your body in some way.

See what comes up and allow all of that to come up.

Get out of your head!…write it down, talk it out…

The Artist’s Way

You either deal with it, or follow it.

Sometimes we don’t know what our zone of genius is or our superpower is because we don’t get asked those questions.

We were taught to be good listeners, good workers, compliant, agreeable, go to college or some kind of trade school and then go get a job…It doesn’t work for everybody.  And it certainly doesn’t open our minds to what else can be.

What else?  Keep going until you run out of answers to them.  Okay…What else?…What else..?  You go until you exhaust that and maybe there’s something in there.

Live into them….Is there a way to apply that? …I really enjoy doing ‘this’.  I’m on fire when I’m doing ‘this’.  How can I use it here?

We don’t do enough of putting ourselves out there and posing questions or making suggestions.  I think the worst thing that can happen is we get a ‘no.’  But the answer is not before we even ask anyway.

I really enjoy this.  I don’t feel like monetizing it….What’s another way to use it?..Maybe it’s volunteering.

If the work environment isn’t conducive to…that spirit…that may not be a good place to apply it. So, perhaps it means to start getting more clear on what that means…

When we get really clear on what we want and why we want it, amazing energy things happen…our focus gets so clear that opportunities seem to float down from the sky.

I’m happy with where I’m at right now and I want to use this for something else.

Ask the question: I’m at my best when I’m doing ______?  And there may be more than one thing.  And you may need to contextualize that….at work…at play…with my family…then look for patterns…

Take the steps that feel right and don’t regret.
